Visiting Grandma

While we were in Kansas we went to see my grandma. It has been several years since I've seen her. We had really debated on whether or not to go. Granner has Alzheimer's and in the last couple of years has gotten steadily worse. She is often confused and agitated. We knew she probably would not remember us and didn't want to cause her more frustration. In the end, though, I decided that I really wanted to see her. I knew that it might be my last chance to see her before she passes away as her health is steadily declining. I just couldn't pass it up.

I was so glad that we did! Although Grandma couldn't put names to our family she definitely recognized that we were family. She was so happy to see us and just kept saying how glad she was that we came. We had prepared the kids to see Granner, and they were so good with her. She asked them every few minutes what their names were and how old they were. They never got tired of answering the same question again and again.

We didn't stay too long. We didn't want to overwhelm Grandma, but I'm so grateful that we decided to go. I'm glad that my kids will have a memory of their great grandmother.

We love you, Granner!

After hearing you tell about your visit to see her, I'm happy to see the pictures. I'm glad the kids could meet her too.
