Anyway, we had a really fun time with Jared's birthday this year. I had decided months ago what I wanted to get Jared for his b-day. A TOASTER. I know this may sound weird, but he really wanted a new one. You see Jared loves to eat toast. When I first met Jared and we started dating, I was surprised to find out that many times he would sit down with a loaf of bread and the toaster at dinner time and he would eat toast with p-nut butter for dinner. (Like half the loaf). However, surprisingly enough when we got married we did not get a toaster. So being the poor college students we were at the time, we went to Wal-Mart and bought the cheapest toaster we could find. I think it was about $6 bucks. Anyway, that toaster has long since seen better days. It has now been almost 15 years and it was a what I now referred to as a surprise toaster. It really didn't matter what setting you put it on, because it was always a surprise to see how it turned out. Sometimes it was burned to a crisp and sometimes barely toasted.
Jared hated that thing, but didn't want to get rid of it until it died. However, I was getting a bit tired of hearing how much he hated it and wanted it to die! So come his b-day he was getting a toaster.
My sister knowing what he was getting for his b-day presented him with a loaf of bread the day before his actual b-day. Jared was a little confused as to why he got a loaf of bread, but not wanting to seem ungrateful smiled and thanked her.
Finally, I let him open his real gift and it all came together for him. He thought we were all real comedians. But we sure love the new toaster! It is even a 4 slice instead of 2. It is so much faster and accurate.
Eating cake!
(We also celebrated my brother-in-laws b-day.)

That's awesome! I love that he was totally confused about the whole thing! Too funny. Sorry we couldn't be there for the festivities.
Great lead-in! I remember our first 4-slice toaster. Dad bought it for us after he and mom tended for us for 3 days.
