A room full of sleeping kids

Our kids have a funny little tradition. They love to sleep in the same room. We have the girls' room and the boys' room, but they love it when we let them all sleep together in one room. They don't do this every night, but they ask quite often. They like to stay up late at night and talk and play. For this reason we limit this tradition to summers, holidays and weekends. NO SCHOOL NIGHTS!

Jared and I have always thought this was a little weird. We don't remember ever willingly sleeping the same room with our siblings. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

They all squeeze into one room. It was a bit easier when the kids were smaller. They could fit two on each bed but, now the kids are too big for that. So two have moved to the floor. They know that we won't let them all sleep in the same room if they fight over spots, so they usually rotate. (Jamie had top bunk last time, so she goes to bottom bunk. Jill had bottom bunk so she goes to the floor by the closet, etc.)

When they did this a couple of weekends ago, I went in to check on them and they were all just so cute I just had to take pictures. Who knows how much longer this will last. Probably not in when they are all teenagers. We are fast approaching that stage. This particular night it was in the girls' room. (Please ignore the messy closet behind Jamie. They had to "clean" their room in order to sleep on the floor. And after all doesn't "cleaning" your room mean shoving everything in the closet?)

So cute. My kids don't get a choice - they have alwasy shared one bedroom and right now they are sleeping two to a bed because we don't have enough beds. Good thing my kids are still little! And you never know, maybe you're kids will enjoy these little sleep overs until they are out of the house - just not every night.
