Jared and I took a last minute getaway this weekend. We drove 4 1/2 hours to Nampa, Idaho. Why Nampa?
One of Jared's missionary companions was getting married on Saturday and asked if we could come. We weren't sure if we could make it because of Jared's colonoscopy on Friday. But ultimately decided to go. My sister offered to take our kids and and we asked my in laws to take our dog and off we went.
We left right after Jacob's basketball game on Saturday and headed north. It was a really nice drive with just Jared and I. We didn't have to talk really loud to hear each other over the kids. We arrived in Nampa (about 10 miles outside of Boise) 15 minutes before the wedding started. We checked into our hotel, changed and we arrived at the church just as the bride was walking into the room. We waited a minute and then went in to sit in the back.
It was a really neat wedding. They are both in the National Guard and so their reception had a military theme to it.
We were really glad that we went. It was a great time. Jared and I enjoyed time alone. We went out to dinner, we went shopping, we went swimming and to see a movie. Jared thinks that he should be able to count this weekend for at least 5 date nights. We'll see about that.
The only bad part was Jared's slight navigational error on the way home. We missed the turn off to come down I-84 and instead went into Pocatello and then down I-15. OOPS! It only added about 1 1/2 to our trip. (I just think Jared wasn't ready to come home and was trying to postpone it.)
In our hurry to leave we forgot our camera, but we met a very nice couple who took lots of pictures and offered to e-mail them to us. So if you are interested in the pictures you can take a look.

i would like to point out. that the person in the seat next to the driver is the navigator and should be paying attention and helping the driver get to were they should be going. yes as you can guess janice was not helping in that area at all.
but we sure did have fun. and it counted for like 8 dates.
I am so jealous. (and Jared is right, what were you doing co-pilot? I think it was really YOU who wanted more alone time!) :)
