Jacob's Birthday!

Jacob turned 7 on Saturday. He has been looking forward to his birthday for several weeks. He has been counting down. Everyday he would tell me how many more days until his birthday. He has also been telling us that he wants a skateboard for his birthday. We had a big party for him with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents !!

When I was trying to decide on a cake for Jacob, I went to familyfun.com to look for ideas for something fun. Unfortunately, Jacob was right there next to me and so he picked out the EXCAVATOR cake. I tried to talk him out of it, but he wanted it so bad that I gave in. It turned out pretty good. Jared and Aunt Mel helped me put it together and frost it. We even created a mountain for the excavator to dig into.

Jacob shared his birthday celebrations with his Grandma P. whose birthday is next week.

As I said before, Jacob really wanted a skateboard for his birthday. So I thought I'd be funny and I bought him this little toy skateboard. He opened it and he was so not impressed, but being the good kid that he is he slapped on a smile and said, "Thanks, Mom!" It was so cute to watch him trying to be happy and not ungrateful.

Here is the real smile. We only let him sweat his birthday present for a minute. Then we had Jamie bring down the real present. He was so excited!

Despite the rain on Saturday, he spent a lot of time outside riding his new skateboard.

More presents!

A bow and arrow!

School clothes!
I woke up yesterday morning with Jacob standing next to me bed tapping me on the shoulder. After I pried my eyes open I saw that he was wearing his new clothes. He said," Look, Mom, see how great these fit. They are very comfy!"
A Seek and Find Book! He loves it!
Thanks to all who came and celebrated with us and also all those who called to wish him a happy birthday! We had a great time!

Jacob is a very special part of our family! He is always teasing someone. He loves to laugh and make other people laugh. He is a sweet, loving brother. He loves to help me out around the house. He loves to play games and have fun. We are so glad to have him in our family!

Happy Birthday, Jake! Shame on your mom for teasing you with the skateboard, though. How mean! :) Enjoy rolling along...
