My sister, Julie, tagged me with this one and I hope that you can all learn a little bit about Jared and I. Jared can refute whatever he wants, but since he never comments or even knows how to post a blog, I can say whatever I want!
What is his name? Jared Hartog
Nicknames? His family calls him "J" and I call him sweetheart, honey, and monkey schwitz(unusual I know, but it is a long story!)
How long have you been married? 12 and a half years
How long did you date? dated 4 months before we got engaged and then we were engaged another 4 months before we got married
How old is he? 34(but he can't ever remember so he just tells people he is 35)
Who eats more sweets? Jared!
Who said "I love you" first? Jared! It was even followed by, "Don't ever forget that I said it first!"
Who is taller? Jared
Who can sing better? Me, although most people sing better than Jared. I'm not being mean. If you ask him, he will tell you that he is a terrible singer. Although it would help if he would learn the actual words to songs rather than just making up his own version of the songs.
Who is smarter? It depends on the subject.
Who does the laundry? I do the laundry much to my dismay. I hate laundry. I have a goal of one day having it done. It never happens. I come so close and then the kids have the nerve to get ready for bed and there is more for me to do.
Who pays the bills? Me
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Jared and he gets very grumpy when I suggest we switch.
Who mows the lawn? Jared does most of the time, but I do go out to do it a few times during the summer.
Who cooks dinner? Me! Jared's idea of his night to cook is ordering pizza. I must say though that he does grill for me. I hardly know how to turn the thing on.
Who drives? I usually let Jared drive. Occasionally I drive, but it usually ends in a fight like this...
"Jared, do you want me to pull over and let you drive?"
"NO!"
"Then stop telling me how to drive!"
"But that lane is moving faster! I commute to work every day and blah blah blah blah!"
It is not good for our marriage! Plus on long car trips I have way more patience with the kids than he does.
Who is more stubborn? Well, since this is my post, I get to say Jared is definitely more stubborn!
Who kissed who first? Jared kissed me. He claims though that I kept looking at his lips which is a signal that I wanted him to kiss me. Whatever!
Who asked who out first? We met and started spending time together at church activities. Then we had some good friends who kept trying to get us together. So we had spent a lot of time together before we started dating. (A whole month!) I guess technically our first time to do something together alone was when I asked Jared if he wanted to go on a SLURPEE run with me. The poor boy didn't know what that was.
Who proposed? Jared proposed to me at a church halloween party in front of everybody!
Who has more siblings? Jared. There are 7 kids in his family and only 6 in mine.
Who wears the pants? I would have to say that we are a pretty good team. We do compromise a lot. I can't help it if I am right more often and he has to do what I want. If I'm right, I'm right! (Just kidding we really do work as a team. I don't know what I'd do without him!!!)
Love you, Jared
P.S. I almost forget, I now tag Becky P., Leighanne, and fellow Coloradan Nicole H.

Sounds like Jared and Matt went to the same "Passenger Seat Driving School". How did our men get enrolled in that one? I think Matt must have scored high in the How To Annoy the Driver segment. I think I've had that same converstation that you've had with Jared, only with Matt. It's a good thing they're cute- it makes them a bit more redeemable! :)
P.S. Slurpee run... that aounds SO good! Maybe we'll have to have a SISTER SLURPEE RUN when I'm there later this week...
I need to point out that i drive more often so my wife can sleep in the car. on a trip to lehi she will sleep 30-5- minutes of the drive and ignore the kids.
as for the age. it is just easier to be the same age for 2 years in a row. and NO one but my wife remembers that i am not 35. so rather then try to remember my age each year i only have to remember a new age every other year.
I must admit I do tend to sleep in the car. But that is not the reason I don't drive. I love you, Jared!
